What do I do if online incident reporting is not right for me?

If your incident is an emergency, call 9‑1‑1. For non‑emergencies, call 661‑861‑3110.

If this happened in another city, can I file a report?

No. If a crime took place outside of the Kern County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction, please contact the law enforcement agency in that jurisdiction. If you live within KCSO jurisdiction and are the victim of identity theft or a financial crime, then you may continue with online reporting.

What if this happened on a state freeway?

If this took place on a state freeway, please contact the nearest California Highway Patrol Office.

How do I know if a suspect is "known"?

A suspect is considered known if any of the following apply: you can identify the suspect by name; you know where the suspect can be found; or you know the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect occupied.
