The Tejon Substation, the newest command within the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, provides comprehensive law enforcement services to the unincorporated township of Mettler and the surrounding Tejon Ranch area. Its expansive jurisdiction covers vast agricultural sectors and a rapidly growing commercial network along the Interstate 5 corridor, notably securing high-traffic destinations such as the Outlets at Tejon and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon.
Operating out of a modern facility, the substation serves approximately 1,500 permanent residents alongside thousands of daily commuters and visitors frequenting regional hospitality, retail, and entertainment venues. To meet the demands of this thriving economic hub and prepare for future master-planned developments, the Tejon Substation is staffed by a dedicated team comprising one Sergeant, one Senior Deputy, ten Deputy Sheriffs, two Sheriff Support Technicians, and an active Community Support Technician.
Driven by a proactive community policing philosophy, personnel work in close coordination with local business owners. Our main goals include strategic partnerships with retail management at the Outlets at Tejon to mitigate organized retail theft, as well as joint efforts with Hard Rock security management to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for families, patrons, and workforce employees alike.
