PUBLIC VISITATION AT ALL KCSO JAIL FACILITIES
All visits are recorded and may be monitored for the safety and security of the facility.
Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility:

- There can only be 1 adult visitor and 3 children or 2 adults with 2 children for a total of 4 visitors. No more than 2 adults visiting at a time.
- All children in school need to bring a school ID or a government issued ID.
- Visitors must provide proof of guardianship for any accompanying child/children. This can be in the form of a birth certificate or court documents that establish the visitor's legal guardianship over the child/children.
- How to schedule a visitation appointment:
Please call (661)391-7901 to schedule your visitation appointment. Visitation appointment calls are answered and booked between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. - Those persons incarcerated at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility will be allowed a total of two adult visitors (or) one adult visitor and three child visitors (or) two adult visitors and two child visitors per visit. (Max occupancy per visit is 4 due to space restrictions.)
- Incarcerated persons at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility will be allowed one 60-minute visit (or) two 30-minute visit per week.
- AES Center H-Pod:
For visiting an inmate enrolled in the AES Program at Lerdo Pretrial Facility Please contact a Care Coordinator at 661-391-2677 to schedule your visit.
Lerdo Justice Facility:

- Inmates will be allowed a total of one adult visitor (or) one adult visitor and one child visitor. (Each child must be accommodated by an adult, max occupancy per visit is 2 due to space restrictions.)
- Inmates will be allowed one 60-minute visit (or) two 30-minute visit per week.
- All public video visitation must be scheduled at least one day (24 hours) in advance, but no more than one week in advance. The visiting week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday. Adult visitors must visit the inmate telephone service provider website to request video visitation. Visitors will receive a confirmation via email or text once their visit has been approved. There are no fees for on-site visits.
- Visitors with disabilities will be afforded the same visiting privileges as other visitors. Wheelchair accessible video visitation booths are available in the Justice Facility Video Visitation Room.
- Visitors will submit a request to visit based on the Justice Facility visiting schedule. The visiting schedule corresponds with the first initial of the inmate’s last name.
On-Site Visiting Rules:
- Visitors 16 years old and older "WILL" be required to present valid government identification when checking in for scheduled video visitation.
- Valid ID includes:
- Any U.S. state or federal government issued photo identification.
- Valid passports with photo.
- Student ID for minors 16 to 18 years old.
- Valid ID includes:
- Visitors under the age of 18 “MUST” be accompanied by a parent or adult legal guardian.
- Visitors are permitted to take keys and identification with them into the video visitation room. Please do not bring other items such as; purse, cell phone, camera, stroller, tobacco, etc. There is no storage area available to secure personal items not permitted in the video visitation room.
- Minors must be under adult supervision at all times. Children will not be allowed to stand on or jump from benches. Repeated warnings to control unruly children will result in termination of your visit.
- If you have a baby you will be allowed to take 1 diaper, 1 bottle, and 1 plain blanket with you into the video visitation room.
- Visitors are only allowed to visit with the inmate in which they are scheduled to visit with. Any manipulation of video visitation scheduling, on- site and off-site video visitation is cause for termination of a visit at the visitor’s expense (expense applies to approved off-site video visitation) and suspension of the visitor’s privilege to visit with any inmate housed in a Kern County Detention Facility. Inmate(s) who violate facility visiting rules are subject to disciplinary action including, suspension of visiting privileges.
Remote Visiting Rules:
- Visiting hours will be Sunday through to Saturday:
- 8 A.M. - 11:45 A.M.
- 12:30 P.M. - 5:45 P.M.
- 6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
When using the video visitation system, visitors and inmates must always refrain from inappropriate behavior.
The facility reserves the right to cancel a visit prior to or during a session based upon visitor or inmate misconduct or for any reason related to the safe, secure, and orderly operation of the facility. The facility also reserves the right to restrict visitors from participating in all future visits.
Inappropriate behavior includes but is not limited to:
- Criminal or gang activity, including threats of violence and/or threats toward other incarcerated individuals, detentions personnel.
- Possession or display of weapons.
- Drug or alcohol use.
- Attempts to communicate with victims or other persons that are protected by court orders such as no contact orders, restraining orders, or orders for protection.
- Any behavior deemed by facility staff to be detrimental to be safe, secure, and orderly operation of the facility.
- Sexual behavior of any kind, including exposure to body parts normally covered by clothing, is prohibited.

Dress Code For Visitors (On-Site and Remote):
Visiting by Ex-Felon(PC 4571):
If an item of clothing is determined by staff to be a security hazard, offensive, or inappropriate, visitors will be given the option of removing, replacing, or covering up the clothing item in question or having the remote video visit terminated. Tight-fitting, provocative, or offensive clothing is prohibited during visits.
- No tank tops or see through clothing is allowed.
- Clothing must be worn so that no skin is visible on the midriff, buttocks, breast, or genitalia.
- Shirts/Blouses must not reveal excessive cleavage.
- Clothing must be worn so that no undergarments are visible.
- No clothing that depicts pictures or words that are sexual or lewd in nature will be permitted.
- Shorts, skirts, and dresses must cover down to the mid-thigh level.
- No bathing suits will be allowed.
- Shoes must be worn on Jail premises at all times.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to deny, cancel or terminate a video visit prior to, or during the video visitation session based upon the safety, security, order and control, or other legitimate penological interest. Furthermore, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to restrict persons from visiting.
All persons requesting visiting privileges at any Facility, who have been previously confined in a State or Federal Prison, must obtain written permission from the facility lieutenant or designee, prior to being permitted to visit with an inmate. If approved, the visitor will be contacted. The visitor must have the form with signature of approval in their possession while at the Lerdo Complex.
If you made your appointment by calling the number above, a staff member may attempt to notify you of any cancellations. However, because it is not guaranteed that someone will be available to make contact, visitors are encouraged to plan around the possibility that their visit could be cancelled when they arrive.
