The Virtual Jail is a phrase coined by the Sheriff’s Office to define the alternative custody programs that have been established to ease overcrowding in the county jail due to the Public Safety Realignment. The Virtual Jail program incorporates existing programs such as Work Release and Sheriff’s Parole with the new Electronic Monitoring Program.
