The Investigations Bureau provides many vital support functions to the Sheriff’s Office and is responsible for performing many mandated duties for the Sheriff's Office through its various divisions/sections. It contains two divisions: the Investigations Division, and the Special Enforcement Division.

The Investigations Division contains the Detective Section, which is comprised of the Homicide Unit, the Crimes Against Persons Unit, the Special Victims Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, the Crime Analysis Unit, and the Licensing Unit. The Special Enforcement Division is comprised of the Special Investigations Section and the Countywide Services Section. These divisions work together to complete complex and thorough investigations into criminal matters. In addition, the bureau is responsible for conducting internal affairs investigations.
