The Records Section, located at Sheriff’s Headquarters – 1350 Norris Road, Building B, is under the Support Services Bureau – Support Services Division. Under the supervision of the Records Administrator, the Records Section is comprised of three units; Crime Reports, Arrest Records and CAL-ID.

The Record’s Section is responsible for ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of criminal history information and investigative files, while assisting all branches of law enforcement in the apprehension and prosecution of criminals; and to provide a variety of services to the public.

To ensure your requests are completed in a timely manner, please be prepared to show valid photo identification such as a driver’s license, passport, resident alien card, school ID card, etc. Please note: We will not accept the Mexican Matricular card as a form of identification.

If you reside outside of Kern County or in another state, and are requesting information pertaining to yourself, you may submit your requests via US mail. Requests must come in the form of a notarized written request with your right thumb print; a copy of your photo ID; and must include applicable fees in the form of a money order.
