Records Section

The Records Section, located at Sheriff’s Headquarters – 1350 Norris Road, Building B, is under the Support Services Bureau – Administrative Services Division. Under the supervision of the Sheriff's Records Manager, the Records Section is comprised of five units: Crime Reports, Arrest Records, CAL-ID, Substation Records Specialists, and the Complaint Unit.
The Record’s Section is responsible for ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of criminal history information and investigative files, while assisting all branches of law enforcement in the apprehension and prosecution of criminals; and providing a variety of services to the public.
To ensure your requests are completed in a timely manner, please be prepared to show valid photo identification such as a driver’s license, passport, matricular card, etc.
If you reside outside of Kern County or in another state, and are requesting information pertaining to yourself, you may submit your requests via US mail. Requests must come in the form of a notarized written request with your right thumb print, a copy of your valid government issued photo identification, and must include applicable fees in the form of a check or money order.
